Barely two months after the first submission victory of his professional career, Malaysia’s “Jungle Cat” Muhammad Aiman (5-2) is planning a similar finish at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

The Bali-based mixed martial artist will face Japan’s Shuya Kamikubo at ONE: HEART OF THE LION on Friday, 9 November, and his main focus is his own performance, knowing little of his upcoming rival.

“I don’t know much about him,” Aiman revealed.

“All I know is I’d probably take him down to the ground and finish the duel.

“I’m not that scared if I get taken down because I know I have enough skills,” the 23-year-old added.

The bout in Singapore will be the quickest turnaround in Aiman’s ONE career, as he looks to continue his momentum in the bantamweight division.

In front of a partisan Shanghai crowd at ONE: BEYOND THE HORIZON on 8 September, the Malaysian martial artist submitted China’s Chen Lei via rear-naked choke.

“I didn’t want to train too hard because I’m just coming off a fight camp and a victory. I’ve trained hard enough during my previous fight camp, but I’ve been working endlessly on my pads.

“This guy is supposedly similar to Chen Lei, but we’ll see whether he really is next week,” Aiman said.

A victory for “Jungle Cat” will see him add a fourth consecutive win to his record, and he’s right in the midst of a career-best streak, admitting that it has added a slight tinge of pressure.

“This is my third fight of the year and every time I win, I must admit, it gets a bit scarier because the pressure to win is real.”

However, the well-versed athlete said he overcomes pressure with ease by blanking his mind out backstage.

“During fight week, I always stay focused as much as I can. I try not to think about the fight. So when it comes, it comes.

“Never think about losing or winning, just battle, and whatever happens, happens. Of course, we go in wanting a victory, but if we don’t, we must not sulk. Instead, train harder.”

History will be made on the same night as, for the first time, fans will see World Champions go head-to-head in the main and co-main event bouts.

Topping the ONE: HEART OF THE LION bill, Aiman’s Bali MMA teammate Xiong Jing Nan defends her ONE Women’s Strawweight World Title against ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela Lee.

In the co-main event, ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes will go five rounds against ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin Belingon to unify the World Titles.
