Azwan Che Wil’s first battle of the year is set for Friday, 28 February.

The Kelantan Nak Muay returns to the global stage of martial arts against Japanese striker Hiroki Akimoto in a ONE Super Series bantamweight kickboxing contest at ONE: KING OF THE JUNGLE inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

His last battle in the ring came in the organization’s first-ever all-ONE Super Series card last September, and Azwan is keen to put in a better performance this time around.

“I’m ready for my ONE Championship return, and I’m thankful to be given another chance against a top opponent,” the 24-year-old said.

“My wish was to compete as early as possible this year, and I’m glad that it seems to be on track.”

Azwan’s opposite number, Akimoto, is a seasoned athlete competing out of Singapore’s Evolve MMA.

A WFKO Karate World Champion and WBC Muay Thai Japan Champion, the Japanese contender brings a very technical style to the ring.

He has picked up two victories against Kenny Tse and Josh Tonna since joining The Home Of Martial Arts in January 2019 and will be aiming for a third against the Malaysian hero.

Apart from their kickboxing contest, two World Titles will be contested in “The Lion City.”

In the night’s headliner, Thailand’s martial arts queen Stamp Fairtex puts her ONE Atomweight Kickboxing World Title on the line against an old foe, Janet “JT” Todd. Their first duel was an epic encounter and this one should be no different.

In the co-main event, ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao meets Rocky Ogden for the inaugural ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title. On that night, the Thai striking icon could be 15-minutes away from history, becoming ONE’s first male two-sport World Champion.

Plenty of other world-class athletes will grace the card too, among them Japanese legend Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi, who faces Meng Bo in a three-round atomweight meet.

Hometown hero Tiffany Teo makes her first appearance since November 2018. The athlete who boasts an impressive 8-1 record and goes toe-to-toe against Ayaka Miura in the women’s strawweight division.
